Healthcare

With almost 20 years of experience in emergency medicine, including ems and as a RN, I understand first hand the challenges of our current healthcare system. I fought COVID on the frontlines. I was there for Ebola, MERS, Swine flu, and other emergencies. There are many issues in healthcare I will address in the state assembly; below is a brief overview of just some of those issues.

My first priority will be addressing COVID-19. I will make certain to end all Covid related mandates. They are politically driven at this point and not based on science. I also believe in the individual's choice, regarding their decision to be vaccinated or wear masks. My team and I will work with you to make sure you have answers to all of your COVID -19 related questions.

It is my moral belief that everyone has the right to healthcare. That does not mean Medicare for all or universal healthcare, but an alternative, affordable plan that actually works. My priority will be to lower the costs of healthcare through accountability. No one should ever make a decision about receiving necessary medication or procedures due to money. The price of medication is absurd. Diabetic patients, for example, are dying because they cannot afford their life saving insulin. I will create more affordable access to primary and preventative healthcare, to include mental health, and I will work to decompress our emergency departments so they can better treat true emergencies.

While in the emergency department, I have witnessed the horrible affects of alcohol and drug addiction in our community. Especially the current opioid crisis. I have a long, proven record in healthcare for increasing identification, treatment, and rehabilitation for those suffering from addiction. By making mental health treatments more affordable and more accessible, we can start to recover from this crisis. I will continue to prioritize mental health, and all healthcare, as your NY Assemblyman.

I am also going to implement education on infant CPR for all new parents before leaving the hospital. Currently, before you leave the hospital with your new baby, you need to have the car seat checked for safety.  It just makes sense to include basic, non certifying, life saving skills to save your child from choking and other emergencies when you leave the hospital.

Workplace safety for all healthcare personnel will be a top focus of mine. In addition, safe patient ratios has been a discussion in healthcare for many years. It is a discussion about how many patients a healthcare professional can safely care for at the same time. This is a discussion I will continue. I will also work closely with physicians, nurses, administrators, and all health professionals to ensure the best care is being delivered to our community and that our healthcare providers receive the support, equipment, and education they need.

First Responders and Military

I will work tirelessly to end cashless bail. I unequivocally back our law enforcement, fire, ems, and military personnel. These individuals risk their lives daily responding to emergency calls. These calls can be dangerous and volatile where lives are in jeopardy. I #backtheblue 100%. I believe that the public safety and the security of our state and our nation should always be the number one priority of government.

I will increase the quality and quantity of training for our first responders. I will make sure they have the proper funding, knowledge, and equipment to safely serve our community. As a former EMT, I know firsthand the challenges of our first responders.

I also firmly believe in accountability. Anyone that commits acts of violence or breaks the law, should be prosecuted justly. This should universally apply to everyone, including those in power.

We must come together as a community. Together, is the only way to resolve our issues. Pointing fingers has never solved anything. We all have the same goal. We all want to be treated with equality and respect. Together we can achieve this.

Our men and women that serve in the greatest military in the world, deserve our eternal gratitude. They put their lives on the line so that we can enjoy the freedoms of this great country. I will fight to maintain and increase active duty military and veteran benefits. They fight for us. We need to fight for them.

Term Limits

Elected officials must have term limits. The president is limited to 2 terms of 4 years each. This was put in place because anyone in power for too long is a risk to our democracy. This is something I firmly agree with and will fight endlessly for. We can no longer have elected officials treating their position as a career. They continue to represent themselves and not the people who voted them into office. They have lost sight of their most important role; a representative. We have lost our voice in our own government. If elected, I will put forth legislation to limit the amount of terms one can serve. I will not stop fighting for what is right. I will never stop fighting for you.

It is my belief that your time in government should be treated as a service to your state and country and to the people you represent. I pledge to serve limited terms.

Immigration

America is a nation of immigrants. We are a melting pot of beautiful cultures and people coming together to achieve the American dream. It’s what makes this country so great. Almost all of us can trace our heritage back to foreign countries.

As one of the world’s last superpowers, we have the responsibility to help those in need. We also have responsibility to protect our country and citizens from those who wish to do us harm. We need to enhance our immigration process and protections at the borders. All are welcome to enter this great nation legally. We need to ensure a more streamlined process to help those seeking legal immigration. Those entering legally can eventually become citizens and enjoy the great freedoms and promises America has to offer.

Bill of Rights

The 1st amendment of the Constitution, grants the right to freedom of speech. I believe the media has the responsibly to display all sides of an issue; not just a singular opinion. A difference of opinion is natural and healthy. We need to be better at respecting opinions of others, so we can have real dialogue and actually solve problems. I have seen all too often people being attacked because they have a different thought. We need to appreciate the views of others and come together to fix the issue. The public discourse should be a marketplace of ideas in which all ideas can be aired and the best ones win. Cancel culture is a severe detriment to the future of our great nation

The 2nd amendment of the Constitution, grants the right to an individual to keep and bear firearms. This is a right that cannot be taken away, and cannot be infringed upon. As a gun owner myself,  I agree there must be certain regulations. An example of these regulations would be increased firearms safety training. I will protect your right to lawfully and responsibly own firearms. NY has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, and, some of the highest numbers of gun violence in the nation. That simply doesn't make sense. We need to allow our citizens to take full advantage of their 2nd amendment rights, and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, those who choose to violate those rights.

Economy

The Covid-19 pandemic has wrecked havoc on our economy. Small businesses have shut down, while big name companies are seeing huge profits. We must never again shut down our places of worship, restaurants, schools or other social necessities. There is no reason why we can travel on an airplane with hundreds of people, yet we have strict regulations at our favorite restaurants and schools. These irrational decisions have been based on corrupt politics and not based on scientific facts or common sense. I fought this pandemic on the front lines. I understand how to protect our community's health, while ensuring economic prosperity.

Before we look at raising any taxes, we must first decrease frivolous government spending at home and abroad. We need to take care of America first. I also propose, before even thinking about raising taxes, we cut the salaries of government leaders.
